Assalaam-u-Alaikum Parents

We are pleased to inform you that we have continuously strived for improving this last year.  We have prepared our teachers for these improvements and look forward to your involvement in an educational and islamically rewarding year. We have adopted a motto for our madrassah “I am a Muslim first” which has been well researched and supported by the PTA. Throughout the year we will unpack and reinforce the philosophy of Islam to our children and what it means to be a proud (and humbly) Muslim in a rapidly changing westernised world.

Changes to this year are as follows:

  • Madrassah will have an assembly and 10 minutes of group work including recitation, basic Arabic, important announcement/s, adaab etc, on a Thursday. Punctuality is therefore very important.
  • Extended days and times will cater for the growth in our foundation phases (class R to 3) and a shift in times for senior classes to minimise absenteeism and clashes with secular priorities. Refer to the last section in prospectus for the detail schedule.
  • It is our intention to make the senior sessions more interesting and relevant to their experiences, hence we are extending this to include Tafseer in addition to the focus on Islamic basics, Qur’an and Hifz.
  • Continuous evaluation for classes 7 to seniors, will alleviate the stresses of having school and Madrassah exams close together. We will review this each term to identify improvements.
  • Correct Qur’an recitation continues to be a priority of this Madrassah and we have several new initiatives to focus on this area. We believe parents can support this objective and Tajweed classes for parents will continue to enable parents to reinforce correct practice with their children. The principal will advise parents of these sessions for those who would like to attend.

Mualima Saabirah, Mualima Bahia, Moulana Luqmaan Mualima Mubashirah and Moulana Waseem form the teaching core and will  be assisted by our assistant teacher/s Mualima Kasker and Mualima Yusra.  Roweydha (Administrator) will support the teaching staff and ensure notices and fees are dealt with timeously.

No Madrassah can achieve success without us all working as a team. So I thank the teachers, PTA members, Parents and EXCO in advance for the continued support.

We look forward to a year where we all live and talk about I am a Muslim First.

Shukran,

Moulana Waseem Hendricks

Absence and Punctuality

  • Learners are expected to arrive punctually at Madrassah. The onus is on parents to make the necessary arrangements to ensure that learners arrive on time for class.
  • All learners shall leave the Madrassah at the official time of dismissal. Should the learner wish to leave at any other time, permission must be obtained from the Principal.
  • In cases of illness or other unforeseen absence, a letter providing reasons for absence signed by the parent must be submitted to the teacher on the day that the learner returns to Madrassah. Learners will not be able to enter class until letter is handed to principal or teacher.
  • Learners should be punctual. If learners are not on time with valid excuse, he/she will be in detention at a time where principal decide. They might be given certain duties or tasks to perform.
  • A learner exceeding 30 days of absenteeism without a valid reason will have to repeat the whole year and there will be no compromising on this point.

General

  • The classrooms and Madrassah grounds must be kept tidy and free of litter.
  • No eating may take place in the classroom. Chewing gum is prohibited at all times
  • In order to optimise the teaching time, learners are requested to go to bathroom/toilet before coming to Madrassah, and to bring bottled water as they will not be allowed to go to and from to drink water outside the classroom.
  • Cellphones to be switched off during Madrassah times.

Uniform

  • White in summer and black tops in Winter, fez or scarf.
  • Changes to be announced during course of year

Whilst we strive to inculcate a sense of self-discipline in our learners it is necessary to impose rules to discourage unacceptable behavior. Parental support in implementing the Code of Conduct is imperative.

Parents Guidelines

Parents’ participation is an essential component in a child’s education. Here are a few guidelines that will assist us in the smooth running of the Madrassah.

Communication

  • All written communication must be acknowledged by parents by completing reply slips. Please note that general communication will be in writing, dated and numbered. Communication from teachers will be written in the communication book. The Madrassah will also be communicating via email or sms as a backup.
  • Should Parents need to discuss anything with the Principal or a Teacher then the parent must make an appointment via the administrator. Parents will not be seen during Madrassah teaching times.
  • Parents are welcome to send any communication, suggestions etc in writing, via email or sms addressed to the Principal or relevant person. Sms’s must be sent to Moulana Waseem and email to the Administrator at admin[@]panoramamasjid.co.za or directly to Moulana Waseem at imam[@]panoramamasjid.co.za
  • It is the Parent’s responsibility to advise the Madrassah of any relevant issues that should be taken into consideration in their child’s education e.g. learning difficulties, health issues, allergies or any other.

Security, Valuables and Personal Safety

  • The safety of our Learners is of utmost importance.
  • Please drop your child inside the mosque compound and make sure that your child has entered the classroom.
  • All learners’ classes R, 1, 2 & 3 must be collected at the entrances of the Masjid. It is essential that parents do so as we find that the children often run around within the compound and the traffic at the time of dropping and fetching learners poses a threat to the safety of learners.
  • Please inform the teacher if you are going to be late to fetch your child. The parent must then fetch the learner in the Masjid.
  • Please ensure that your child does not carry any items of value or too much money. Any learners carrying a cellphone must switch it off during Madrassah teaching time. Cellphones will be confiscated by a teacher if a learner is found playing or using it without the permission of the teacher. Parents will be required to collect it after.
  • Further guidelines and rules under ‘Code of Conduct’

Involvement in the Daily Madrassah Program

  • Volunteers are always welcome. Should a parent wish to assist then please inform the Principal of your availability? We also welcome parent input and communication regarding the Madrassah education and activities so that we can continually deliver our best to our learners.

Absence and Punctuality

  • We emphasize this area as it impacts other students who are on time.
  • Please make sure that your child is on time.
  • Please send a note to the teacher if you know your child is going to be absent.

 Fees

  • Fees for 2023 has changed this year and amounts to R3600.00 per child per year (R300.00p/m for 12 months + Registration fees of R250).
